                   Economic Forecast/Industry Outlook



Below is a summary of the various media outreach activities MAYO Communications & MAYO PR conducted to promote the embargoed “2010-2011 LAEDC Economic Forecast & Industry Outlook” and event Feb.17, 2010, at the LA Marriott, Downtown.  About a dozen media attended and many more opted for advanced interviews and post interviews. KNX  and Los Angeles Times and LA Daily News really helped this year with stories in the morning and Online posted stories of the Forecast event.


Media coverage included:



TELEVISION



·        KTLA-TV CH. 5 sent a crew and interviewed Jack Kyser before the event and left early in the morning. The story was for the 10 pm news and morning show.

·        Telemundo Television Network - Telemundo television network sent a cameraman and interviewed Yvonne Chavez in the hotel lobby on the Economic Forecast. (This is the first time they have covered the LAEDC Forecast event).

·        KMEX-TV 52 Telemundo affiliate interviewed Yvonne Chavez about the highlights of the Forecast.

·        CNN Headline News taped two different segments with Jack Kyser Friday.

·        KTTV-TV Fox 11 News shot video pool coverage of it the event through the Local News Network,for ch. 4,5, 11 for evening newscast.

·        KSCI-TV Ch. 18 sent a crew after the event to interview Jack Kyser and used City News Service stories MAYO Communications posted at midnight.

·        KNBC-TV used City News Service stories.. A story was posted on the Ch. 4 news website.  Jack Kyser also did a long interview with Channel 4 live streaming produced by Mekahlo Medina, Digital KNBC-TV 4 on the LAEDC Forecast.

 

RADIO


·        KNX 1070 AM News interviewed Jack Kyser for news stories that aired all morning before event. After the event was over Host Frank Mottek interviewed LAEDC and event panelists live in a long segment on the KNX Business Hour with Frank Mottek.  He ran recorded and live stories throughout the day. Various stories were posted on its website www.KNX.com.

·        KABC-710 AM  attended, and interviewd Jack Kyser and Dr Nancy Sidhu right prior to the event and aired the stories throughout the day.

·        KFWB 980 AM News conducted phone interviews with Jack Kyser in advance of the event, and aired a series of stories in the morning and afternoon. The story was also posted on the KFWB website at: www.kfwb.com. KFWB 980 AM is the number one all news radio station, has three million listeners during rush hour.

·        KFI 640 AM – Produced stories from early morning phone interviews with Jack Kyser and aired the stories through the afternoon newscasts. The 50,000 watt talk format station is the most powerful radio station west of the Mississippi.  



NEWSPAPERS/PRINT


·        Los Angeles Daily News (circ: 200,570) business editor conducted interviews with LAEDC staff and Chief Economist Jack Kyser, and posted a banner headline front page story at the top of the fold of the Los Angeles Daily News.The story appeared in the newspaper on the morning of the event.  Additionally, the business editor included the story in a local economic outlook story in Sun Valley on Sunday, too. It was posted on its website www.dailynews.com. The Los Angeles Newspaper Group, which has a circulation of more than one million (8 newspaper members.)

·        Los Angeles Times- Interviewed Jack Kyser and published the Forecast story on the morning of the event Feb. 17, 2010. Later an entertainment writer interviewed Jack Kyser and Dr. Nancy Sidhu, for a story in the LA Times. The Forecast story  was also posted Online on the LAT website: www.LATimes.com. Cir. 740,000+

·        LA Opinion- The business editor interviewed Jack Kyser and focused on several issues jobs, housing and the economy with Hispanic concerns.   LA Opinion is the largest and most influential Spanish newspaper in the Country.


·        Associated PressDid not attend, however quoted Jack Kyser in a story about about the LA Mayor’s Budget woes, two days later (424 articles, where Jack Kyser was quoted Fri.,, Feb. 19, 2010), after we pitched the LA business bureau of the Asssociated Press. AP is available on the World Wide Web at www.ap.org.


·        Reuters Wire Service – Reuters published the story on the Forecast event that was written by Carl Di Oriorio for Hollywood Reporter magazine. Reuters offers 24-hour coverage of global happenings for professionals around the world. Reuters is available on the World Wide Web at http://www.reuters.com.
Circ. is in the millions of financial readers.


·        City News Wire Services did not attend, but they distributed our news alerts, advisories and updated news release on the morning of the event and put out short wire story for its media members on the forecast CNS circuit wire service for metro media. News teases and other collateral we faxed/emailed to them were also distributed to members.


NEWSPAPERS/PRINT


·        Site Selection, Atlanta, Georgia – interviewed Jack Kyser and Dr. Nancy Sidhu on the afternoon of the forecast and the publication is expected to publish the story in the next edition. It is a prestigious national infrastructure magazine that dates back to 1883, covering info about new plants and business expansions, During the 1950s, McKinley Conway purchased Manufacturers Record from the founder and merged it with his Industrial Development and Site Selection which subsequently became Site Selection. According to the company and an circulation audit, Site Selection has an impressive following: more than 32,000 c-suite manufacturing & corporate real estate executives; more than 2,500 government development agencies; decision makers from more than 800 of the Fortune 1000 companies; more than 630 facility managers; more than 500 site consultants; executives with more than 100 utilities; representing more than 70 countries. Site Selection is reportedly read by all Governors of the U.S. Cir: 45-50,000 globally.


·        Hollywood Reporter interviewed Jack Kyser and published the story Online and in the magazine focusing on the entertainment, TV and film production highlights. It was also shared with its various national and international Online publications. Reuters picked up the story and carried again over its financial wire services globally. The Hollywood Reporter is one of the top publications entertainment industry executives live by. Circ. 24203.


·        Daily Variety did not cover the story, because they published a similar feature, where they also interviewed Jack Kyser about TV/film production one week ago.


·        Women’s Wear Daily- published a story on Feb. 18, 2010 “Slow Industry Gains Seen In California” in the magazine and Online membership version. The fashion issue focuses on any aspect of the apparel and accessories markets, including ready-to-wear, market overviews, fashion trends, retailing updates and business issues. ·        LA Business Journal published a story the morning of the event on its breaking news website. The LABJ is a company oriented 50+ page tabloid focusing on breaking news and business trends. Cir. ranges from 20 – 50K.


·        Los Angeles Downtown News published the Downtown Forecast where Jack Kyser spoke earlier, but did not attend this event. They highlighted the downtown forecast earlier in the month.


·         San Gabriel Valley Tribune’s published a nice story with a photo on the day of the event in the business section. SGV is belongs to the LA Newspaper Group. circ: 47,300


·        The Press Enterprise interviewed Jack Kyser for the embargoed story entitled, “Forecast predicts sluggish Inland recovery,” and published the story on the morning of Feb. 17, 2010 Total Circ: 190,773.


·        The Daily Inland Bulletin interviewed Jack Kyser for the embargoed story,
headlined “Look for brighter L.A. County economy,” and published the story on the morning of the event. Also published on its web site.


·        Pasadena Star News interviewed Jack Kyser and staff in advance of the event and published the story, “The County in Recovery,” and also posted the story on its website.  Circ: 34,700


NEWSPAPERS/PRINT


·   Glendale News Press  interviewed Jack Kyser and the Glendale Mayor at the event, and published story “Fiscal Recovery in the Forecast,” on Feb. 19, 2010. The Glendale News-Press is a daily newspaper that covers the Glendale, La Crescenta and Montrose areas. It has the largest circulation of any local publication.The Glendale News-Press celebrated its centennial anniversary in May 2005.The paper is a member of Times Community News and is delivered in the Los Angeles Times and is also available for free at select news racks through the city. It publishes Mon. – Sat.to an estimated 73,000 readership.

·
   Daily Breeze interviewed Jack Kyser on the Forecast and event and published the story Feb. 17, 2010. cir: 65,750. Daily Breeze is a daily newspaper published for residents of Torrance, CA. The newspaper covers local news, sports and weather. Daily Breeze is available Online at www.dailybreeze.com. 

·
     Antelope Valley Press did the story and published it on the day of the event. It was also published on its web site.

·
        San Bernardino Sun News interviewed Jack Kyser in advance of embargoed story, “Look For a Brighter LA Economy,” and published it the day of the event. Also posted Online.

·
        San Gabriel Valley News interviewed Jack Kyser in advance of embargoed story and published it the day of the event. The story was also published in several LA Newspaper Group papers. Also posted Online.

·
        Ventura County Star published the AP story  talking about the City of LA’s budget, Feb. 19th. Ventura County Star is a local daily newspaper serving the residents of Ventura County, CA. The publication features local news, weather, sports, business, and entertainment. Ventura County Star website also posted the story at: http://www.venturacountystar.com. circ: 98,596

        Orange County Register did two stories, one focusing on jobs, the other building permits in OC.The Orange County Register is the largest of 28 daily newspapers operated by Freedom Communications, Inc. The Register also publishes 23 weekly newspapers, including the Spanish-language newspaper, Excelsior, three magazines, and myOC.com, the local Orange County internet Web portal.         California Apparel News attended interviewed Jack Kyser and other panelist and published the story.

        The Planning Report and Metro Investment Report attended the event and a story is pending

        The Korean News – Interviewed Jack Kyser and published the story on the day of the event. Circ. 2 million.

        Sing Tao Newspapers (LA), Ltd.
Also called and published the story the next day. MAYO Communications sent via email photo highlights of the event for the pub which has a circulation of 30,000 and is owned by Sing Tao - Newspaper in Hong Kong, China at MondoTimes.com.

        China Daily News – Called and did an interview with Jack Kyser. The China Daily News is the largest Chinese Newspaper in the country. (www.chinadaily.com.cn).
