RE:                 Media Report on “2007 The Eddy Awards®”



Below is a summary of the various media outreach activities MAYO Communications conducted to promote the embargoed LAEDC “2007 Business Friendly Award, and Eddy Awards event Nov. 6, 2007, in Beverly Hills.

Despite the Wildfires and the bitter WGA strike (Nov. 1st), MAYO Communications still managed to obtain blockbuster Internet news websites, print and broadcast coverage of which we have listed below.

Media coverage included:

·        KFWB 980 News conducted interviews in advance of the event, and ran a series of stories on the day of the release. The story was also placed on the KFWB website at: www.kfwb.com. KFWB 980 AM is the number one all news radio station, and has three million listeners during the noon hour. It is owned by Viacom/CBS.

·        ·KNX News Host Frank Mottek interviewed LAEDC staff and Jack Kyser, for the

·        KNX Business Hour, which is a large business audience estimated at three million listeners during drive time afternoons. The stories aired all afternoon during regular newscasts, too, and the next morning. Additionally, KNX posted the winners on www.KNX.com.|

·        ·KFI News interviewed LAEDC and air the stories the morning after the Eddy Awards. KFI is the West Coast largest talk station with hundreds of affiliates in the West. 50,000 watt talk format station is the most powerful radio station west of the Mississippi. (www.KFI.com)

·         KPCC 89.3 FM News LAEDC in advance and aired the story the next day. KPCC is the flagship station of Southern California Public Radio. It airs all of the signature public radio news and talk programs, along with locally produced ones and has a good following.

·         KUTY 1470 Santa Clarita Newstalk Radio ran the story on the story on the morning of the event. KCBS-TV ran a voice over story and posted a 30 second reader on their website, www.kcbs.com.

·        KABC-TV Eyewitness Newsmaker in call about the eddy, and booked Jack Kyser in studio in a recorded interview Last Friday, but most the interviews about housing market and failing housing industry.

·        ·California Report (30 PBS radio stations statewide) ran the story on the morning of the embargoed Forecast and event. (listenership – several million)

·        ·KCRW 89.9 FM morning news host interviewed staff and Jack Kyser the day before the event and ran the story the next day.

·        City News Wire Services published the advisories, news releases and other collateral we faxed and emailed to them. They also wrote 400 word summary on the Eddy and distributed it Oct. 5, 2006 after 8:30 P.M. on the CNS circuit wire service for metro media.

·        UPI Wire Service –Los Angeles ran the story globally in advance with six finalist cities, and several short bits from our three news releases.

·        Reuters Wire Services- SF, also ran short segments on the finalist and the winners from the info we faxed and emailed.

·        Los Daily News and Los Angeles Newspaper Group published three stories:  conducted interviews with Bill Allen to write an advanced story and post event news items for the Los Angeles Newspaper Group.  The story was published on the front page of the Daily News on finalist with a color photography of downtown Burbank and posted on its website www.dailynews.com.  Daily News published another story with Bill Allen and Jack Kyser in the regional section of the newspaper. Monday Nov. 12, 2007, the News Business Editor Daily News, flushed out a more in-depth story on the Eddy winners for an extended story on the front paper of the Business Section of the Los Angeles Daily News. Daily News is part of the The Los Angeles Newspaper Group, which has a circulation of more than one million (eight newspaper members. The coverage generated nearly a half dozen articles in its various newspapers.

·        LA Business Journal honored the embargoed announcements and also ran story in the paper, but first on their website.   Los Angeles Business Journal is a weekly, company oriented 50+ page tabloid focusing on breaking news and business trends in the Los Angeles County business community. It is distributed to management executives who purchase or lease goods and services for their companies. Circulation ranges from 20 – 50K.

·        San Gabriel Valley Tribune’s published a story on the day after. SGV is belongs to the Los Angeles Newspaper Group. Circ.: 48835

·         The Press Enterprise interviewed Jack Kyser for the embargoed story and published the story on the day after event and release.

·         Pasadena Star News – interview LAEDC staff and published the story in the business section from the release. The Star belongs to the Los Angeles Newspaper Group. Circ.: 4883.

·        · The Daily Inland Bulletin interviewed Jack Kyser for the embargoed story and published the story on the day after the release. It was also published on its web site. 

·        Daily Breeze published the story the next day, from the LA Newspaper Group.

·        Antelope Valley Press sent an editor and did the story and published it on the day after of the event.

·        LA Opinion, Business section produced a story for weekend’s edition of the nation’s most influential Spanish newspaper. Circulation is 20,000 in Los Angeles Metro area, 100K+ nationally counting its website and distribution. We also sent images to the paper. They interviewed Jack Kyser twice on the story.

·        China Daily News published the story the day after. Circulation is several million globally.

·        Korean Times –published the story the after the event, cir. About 2 million.

MAYO Communications has sent most of the clips and will continue to monitor stories yet to be published by the trades and newspapers interested in coverage and placement of the various stories we pitched..
