RE:                 Media Report on “2007 International Trade Trends & Impacts”

Below is a summary of the various media outreach activities MAYO Communications conducted to promote the LAEDC “2007 LAEDC International Trade & Trends Impacts,” and the media activities performed for this campaign leading up to the event in Long Beach May 10th, 2007.

This is the first time LAEDC has released a study (5-1-07) one week before an event. It was a little confusing to the media on the second notice of the trade event, just nine days after the study results were released. We recommend that LAEDC/WTCA LA/LB embargo the study, but release it on the day of an event as in previous successful years. Despite the competing controversial May 1st Latino Day March (the day the study was released to media), and this week’s the Griffith Park and Catalina Island wildfires, MAYO’s media outreach was successful.

Media coverage included:

·        KFWB 980 News AM did some last minute interviews with George McQuade and ran a series of stories on the air this morning and afternoon capping the LB event and highlights of the Trade Study. The story also ran on KFWB Business Hour. The story was also placed on the KFWB website at: www.kfwb.com.

·        KNX News (Business hour 3 million listeners) interviewed President Vance Baugham the day before the study release and aired his interviews the morning of the embargo on KNX and the KNX Business Hour.  Also appeared on the KNX website.
