RE:         2006-2007 “LAEDC Economic Forecast” Media Report

Below is a summary of the various media outreach activities MAYO Communications conducted to promote the embargoed LAEDC “2006-2007 Economic Forecast, and event Feb.8, 2006, at the Wilshire Grand Hotel, downtown. Despite the competing media coverage of previews to the Olympics,TV Sweeps month, prison riots, a Blue Line accident and wildfires in Orange County and Malilbu,  MAYO Communications garnered good media coverage and exposure for LAEDC. About three dozen media attended the actual event and many more opted for advanced interviews.

Media coverage included:

·  KNBC-TV Ch. 4 came late with a reporter and crew after the wildfires and  interviewed LAEDC Chairman Rod Banks in hallway about the forecast, an overview of the program, housing and interest rates and ran the story twice on the prime time news and posted it on their website with a link to the forecast.

·KABC-TV also came after the wildfires in Malibu, caught some of the program and interviewed Jack Kyser in the hallway, too, running the story that night.

·KSCI-TV (Mandarin, Cantonses and Vietnamese) sent a TV crew for coverage and interview Jack Kyser on a break from the program

· KNX News  interviewed Jack Kyser in advance and aired the stories the morning of the event. KNX MONEY 101 ran the entire interview during the business hour,
one of the most listened periods at the station. Also posted on its website www.KNX.com.

·KFWB 980 News conducted interviews with Jack Kyser in advance of the event, and ran a series of stories the morning of the release. The story was also placed on the KFWB website at: www.kfwb.com. KFWB 980 AM is the number one all news radio station, and has three million listeners during the noon hour. It is owned by Viacom/CBS.

·KFI called the morning of the event and interview Jack Kyser afterwards and ran the stories all afternoon and the next morning. 50,000 watt talk format station is the most powerful radio station west of the Mississippi. (www.KFI.com)

·Fox News Radio Network (LA Bureau) interviewed Jack Kyser in advance of story and aired stories on the day of embargoed report

·KPCC 89.3 FM News interviewed Jack Kyser at his office, airing the stories on the embargoed dates and posted them on their website. KPCC is the flagship station of Southern California Public Radio. It airs all of the signature public radio news and talk programs, along with locally produced ones and has a good following.

·KABC 790 AM Talk Radio broadcast live before the event and Doug McIntyre moderated the morning panel program introducing Jack Kyser (pre-arranged).

·Los Angeles Times Business Economic Editor conducted interviews with Chief Economist Jack Kyser, and staff in advance of the event. The story was published prominently in the Business section of the Los Angeles Times and on the website www.LATimes.com.

·Los Angeles Daily News Business Editor conducted interviews with LAEDC staff and Chief Economist Jack Kyser to write an advanced story and post event news items for the Los Angeles Newspaper Group. The front page banner headline and front-page story was published on the morning of the event, Feb. 8th and was posted on its website www.dailynews.com. Several related economy stories appeared days afterwards from housing to employment. The Los Angeles Newspaper Group, which has a circulation of more than one million (eight newspaper members. The coverage generated nearly a half dozen articles in its various newspapers.


·Daily Variety Magazine interviewed Jack Kyser on the movie production and TV studio production report on Hollywood, the story was published the next day.


·
Hollywood Reporter took the same angle, interview Jack Kyser and posted the story one minute after midnight on its website and affiliates, which resulted in an article in the news section of the publication on Hollywood. It also appeared in the sister magazine and website BackStage.(www.BackStage.com).


·
City News Wire Services published the advisories, news releases and other collateral we faxed and emailed to them. They also wrote 400 word summary on the forecast and distributed one minute after midnight on the CNS circuit wire service for metro media. The news alerts resulted in the CNS Budget listing and they posted news release materials were published on the wire service after the event, too.


·
Orange County Register  interviewed Jack Kyser and LAEDC staff for a story that appeared in the OCR. The Orange County Register is the largest of 28 daily newspapers operated by Freedom Communications, Inc. The Register also publishes 23 weekly newspapers, including the Spanish-language newspaper, Excelsior, three magazines, and myOC.com, the local Orange County internet Web portal.


·
LA Business Journal honored the embargoed story for their website and sent two journalists to the event and wrote a story that was published on the websiteFeb. 8, 2006. Los Angeles Business Journal is a weekly, company oriented 50+ page tabloid focusing on breaking news and business trends in the Los Angeles County business community. It is distributed to management executives who purchase or lease goods and services for their companies. Circulation ranges from 20 – 50K.


·
San Gabriel Valley Tribune’s published a story on the day of the event in the business section. SGV is belongs to the Los Angeles Newspaper Group.


·
The Press Enterprise interviewed Jack Kyser for the embargoed story and published the story on the morning of Feb. 8th.


·
The Daily Inland Bulletin interviewed Jack Kyser for the embargoed story and published the story on the morning of the event. It was also published on its web site.


·
Los Angeles Downtown News attended and published a story on the forecast with photo of Jack Kyser in his office


·
Daily Breeze business editor interview Jack Kyser on the eve of the event and published the story Feb. 8th.


·
Antelope Valley Press did the story and published it on the day of the event and sent a reporter to cover the speakers, Feb. 8th.. It was also published on its web site.


·
San Bernadino Sun News interviewed Jack Kyser in advance of embargoed story and published it the day of the event.


·
Metro Investment Report
attended the event and published stories on its website, too.


·
Weekly Business News Corp. (US Japan business news) attended and interviewed Jack Kyser, staff and Asian business leaders and said they plan to run two stories on the Economic Forecast. (MAYO sent images to the reporter.)


·
The Korean News-attended the event and has a circulation of more than two million in Los Angeles County, not counting the newspaper website. MAYO provided images of Jack Kyser and others for the newspaper.


·
Korean Radio Network (KBS LA) interviewed Jack Kyser after the event for its newscasts.


·
Seoul Radio Network interviewed Jack Kyser during the event on a break 


·
LA Opinion, Business Reporter attended and interviewed Jack Kyser and write a story for weekend’s edition of the nation’s most influential Spanish newspaper. Circulation is 20,000 in Los Angeles Metro area, 100K+ nationally counting its website and distribution. We also sent images to the paper.


·
China Daily News attended the event and interviewed Jack Kyser at the event. Circulation is several million globally.


·
China Press interviewed Jack Kyser in the hallway on a break


·
International Chinese Daily News also attended the event and interviewed Jack Kyser at the event. Circulation is several million globally.


·
Sing Tao Newspapers (LA), Ltd. Reporter Mike Bao, attended event and MAYO Communications sent via email image highlights of the event for his publication, which has a circulation of 30,000 and is owned by Sing Tao - newspaper in Hong Kong, China at MondoTimes.com
